IDP’s IELTS Test Tips and
Practice course is designed for people who already have a good
level of English and who have done some study of academic English.
The course offers participants a solid overview of the IELTS test
structure and its requirements. Taking a systematic approach to
each of the English skills, the course offers a range of techniques
designed to improve participants’ performance during the test and
enable them to get their desired result.
-
Speaking
The IELTS test includes a speaking component with a native
English-speaking assessor. IDP’s training offers a range of
language structures that enable participants to deal with language
functions involved in face-to-face interviews. Amongst others,
these functions include stating facts and opinions, describing
processes and events, dealing with difficult questions, and making
comparisons.
-
Listening
The listening component of the IELTS test includes a series of
monologues and dialogues that steadily increase in difficulty and
often include highly detailed information. Candidates are asked to
answer a number of questions presented in a variety of formats. The
Test Tips and Practice course gives participants practice in
techniques such as listening for gist or main idea alongside
intensive practice in listening for specific information.
-
Reading
IELTS candidates are asked to answer questions about extended texts
that often contain detailed information. In addition, participants
may be asked to establish facts based on tables and diagrams. IDP’s
training addresses a number of skills required for successful
reading, including skimming, scanning, and reading for key words or
main idea.
-
Writing
The writing component of the IELTS test has two parts. Part one
requires candidates to write a description of a table or a diagram.
Part two requires candidates to write an essay offering opinions
and facts to support them. IELTS Test Tips and Practice offers
participants the language and skills required to deal with both
writing elements in a successful fashion.
