IDP's Conversation courses are
designed for students who want and need extra, guided, speaking
practice in a wide variety of realistic, everyday scenarios.
The course aims to improve the students'
confidence, fluency and
ability by getting the students to spend as much
time as possible in class using spoken English.
Unlike general English courses, there is much less focus on and
input of grammar as the emphasis is on practising rather than
studying spoken English.
All the practice activities in class allow students to speak in
social and functional situations that they are sure to meet in the
real world such as when meeting people for the first time, at a
restaurant, around town, asking for and giving advice, solving
problems and expressing opinions, talking about experiences and
numerous other useful, everyday situations.
The course is ideal for students who have a fair grasp of
English but have not had much practice in speaking and thus perhaps
don't feel confident when speaking. It is also ideal for anyone
planning a trip overseas to an English speaking country, whether
for study, work or recreation.
